The win now has put Bayern in the third position with 20 points and Monchengladbach in second on 24 points while Dortmund on 27 points.
Reacting to the match, Dortmund coach Lucien Favre said:
“It was a great game and I have to congratulate my players, I don’t think I have seen a tougher Bayern team than in the opening 30 minutes.’’
“I was happy to go into the break trailing 1-0 because I knew they could not keep up that pace. It was hard for us but we then felt we could win the game.”
Bayern coach Niko Kovac said his team played well but needed to be compact as pressure mount on him. Bayern are used to winning the league as they have won it in the last six years
“We were twice caught on the break and that should not happen, Dortmund has very quick players and we should have been more compact.”
