In the latest attack, Al Shabaab says its gunmen disrupted a religious centre in central Somalia early this morning killing 10 people and a cleric.
The spoke person of the group Abdiasis Abu Musab said: “A car bomb rammed into the centre of the man who insulted the prophet. Our militants are now inside and fighting goes on.”
“The cleric Abdiweli was killed in the attack along with 10 of his followers.’’
Local residents of the area Galkayo and another regional official said Abdiweli may have been targeted because of some of his alleged statements and that his centre hosts mostly youths who dance and play music.
Al Shabaab spoke man also said of Abdiweli was claiming to be a Prophet. But reports from locals had it that Abdiweli denied ever saying it.
In his reaction, the governor of Mudug region, Abdirashid Hashi said: “We cannot know the figure of casualties right now. Al Shabaab had threatened him many times,”
Al Shabaab has been involved in many killing and they say they want to rule Somalia in other to establish their laws in the country. They are also in talks with the Boko Haram group that recently killed hundreds of Nigerian soldier in the Northeast of Nigeria.
