Going into the match Juventus remains the only team still unbeaten away from home in all competitions across all the big 5 leagues in Europe this year.
Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo gave the visitors the win, however, Gonzalo Higuain had a chance to score from the spot kick but it was saved by Wojciech Szczesny. Before the penalty was played, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to his goalkeeper possible as to where Higuain will send the ball to and that lead to a fine save by the goalkeeper.
Higuain penalty miss was not just all for him as his day went from bad to worse when he was sent off because of his rage.
He later apologized for the incident in his statement:
“It seemed an unfair foul, I was fouled as far as I’m concerned. I was cautioned but I did not insult anyone,” he told Milan TV.
“I apologized to the club, the fans, the coach and my companions because these episodes must be avoided’’.
“We are human, we feel emotions, the game was not going the right way and it was one of those days.”
Ac Milan coach Gattuso also reacted to Higuain’s condition:
“At this moment he feels a lot of pressure, my words from yesterday’s press conference were not by chance,”.
“Right now, he feels a huge weight on him and it shows. He must remain calm, he should apologise and assume his responsibilities.
“He has to put aside his nervousness, he is our most important player we have and he has to make the difference. He has to be clear-headed.”
Although Ronaldo got a share of Higuain’s rage, he did not take offence, rather we said:
“I told him to calm down, as he risked an even worse ban,”.
“He didn’t do much, he was annoyed at losing the game. That’s understandable. I hope he is not punished too severely.”
With the result Juventus counties their fine runs of matches and their dominance against Ac Milan. They won 11 matches and drawn only one so far.
